Sadly, an example of an interesting idea - spicy, citrussy hops in a bottle - executed timidly. This blond beer was drinkably smooth, but in essence was neither sharp nor zesty enough to justify its name. Perfectly pleasantish, just a bit uninspiring, like Nick Clegg.
Hmm, it's worth mentioning that Bitter & Twisted from a handpump in a pub that's got at least half an idea what it's doing is a cracking drop, and this experience underscores the idea that real ales from a bottle don't always reflect the quality of the beer.
ReplyDeleteI had exactly the same thing from Harviestoun Old Engine Oil stout - from the bottle I had it was mediocre, but on draught, fantastic!
